Kwithu Furniture was founded in Blantyre, Malawi, with a simple ambition: to make furniture that is beautiful, practical, personal and more conscious of the materials used to create it.
The company was established in 2023 and grew around the belief that good furniture should not force people to choose between style, affordability and responsible production.
Instead, Kwithu began exploring how reclaimed and recycled materials, thoughtful design and local craftsmanship could come together to create furniture with character.
The journey behind Kwithu is rooted in a wider passion for enterprise, community development and creating practical opportunities in Malawi.
Kondwani Mzumara is the Founder and CEO of Kwithu Furniture. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Land Economics and is an alumnus of the African Presidential Leadership Program and the YALI Regional Leadership Centre.
Before building Kwithu Furniture, Kondwani's professional journey included work in land, valuation, development and finance, alongside involvement in community and economic empowerment initiatives.
Those experiences helped shape a perspective that goes beyond making furniture. Kwithu is part of a broader ambition to build a Malawian business that creates value through design, responsible use of resources, local skills and meaningful economic participation.
